Journalism Is Now Genocide: The BBC Letter and the Media That Aids Mass Murder

A critique of the BBC journalists’ open letter and the media’s long collaboration with power.

A week ago, over 100 BBC employees signed an open letter to their Director General, Tim Davie, accusing the British broadcaster of acting as the mouthpiece of the Israeli government during its coverage of Gaza. The letter has been circulated widely, endorsed by 300 other media professionals, and is often referred to as evidence of growing internal dissent over the network’s editorial direction. Owen Jones called it a “devastating letter.”
